B4NTR have now taken their next step towards obtaining world class ultrafast broadband for North Tyneside and Redesdale!
At a meeting on the 16th of September, 2019 David Ryall from B4RN revealed a detailed consultative network mapping plan for the parishes of Chollerton, Birtley and Corsenside. The parishes of Kirkwhelpington, Bavington, Wallington Demesne and Otterburn will follow shortly. This means, if the project goes ahead, EVERY property in these parishes will be given the opportunity to obtain a 1GB broadband service. This would be supplied by the UK’s leading not for profit community broadband company B4RN.
This is a very ambitious project and it feels fantastic to see the first draft of the consultative plan for our area. Of course there is still a great deal of work to be done. In the coming months there will be plenty of opportunity for local people to invest in the project both as volunteers to help in the detailed planning and via investing in shares to demonstrate our community’s commitment to the project.
David Ryall from B4RN will be back on the evening of Monday 7th October at Birtley Village Hall to hold the first session of volunteer training. Anyone who is interested in making this project happen would be very welcome to attend. At present we need people willing to walk the proposed routes and make sure they are suitable, alongside working with the land owners to make sure we plan the best ways to cross their land. It’s detailed work and there are many miles to cover. The sooner we get this plan finalised, the sooner we can get to work building this network! Training will be provided as above!
Please mark the date in your diaries and we will be very pleased to see you.
